Instagram is a free, online photo-sharing application and social network platform that was acquired by Facebook in 2012.

Instagram allows users to edit and upload photos and short videos through a mobile app. Users can add a caption to each of their posts and use hashtags and location-based geotags to index these posts and make them searchable by other users within the app. Each post by a user appears on their followers' Instagram feeds and can also be viewed by the public when tagged using hashtags or geotags. Users also have the option of making their profile private so that only their followers can view their posts.

It can also be accessed on the web from a computer, but users can only upload and share photos or videos from their devices

Applying Filters and Editing Your Instagram Posts

Download and Install the Appropriate Instagram App to Your Device

Next, download the official Instagram app from the iTunes App Store for iOS devices or from the Google Play store for Android devices.

To do this, simply open Google Play or the App Store on your mobile device and do a search for “Instagram.” The first search result should be the official Instagram app.

Download and install it on your device.

Create Your Instagram Account

Now you can get started with creating your free Instagram user account. Tap Register to do this.

Instagram will lead you through the steps to create your account. You’ll need to choose a username and a password first.

You can upload a profile photo and connect to your Facebook friends either now or later. Instagram also requires you to fill out your email, name and an optional phone number.

Tap Done in the upper right corner to confirm your account information. Instagram will then ask you if you would like to connect with Facebook friends if you didn’t do so previously, or friends from your contact list. You can press Next or Skip if you’d like to pass.

Finally, Instagram will display a few popular users and thumbnail of photos as a way to suggest some to follow. You can press Follow on any of them if you like and then press Done.
